ANOTHER Tuesday update...

Finally heard from "M's" caseworker. It seems that they are now, seriously, considering placement for him. WITH HIS BIO-Aunt & Uncle. If you have read any of my previous blogs, you know that she has had custody of him before, and returned him. There has also been numerous red flags with her home study, which will be addressed and corrected. I am told.
The state has a policy of kinship placement...unless absolutely impossible. I understand that. Really, I do.
Soooo, now we wait for another "match".
I am glad that "M" will continue a relationship with his bio-fam. It is important he know where is came from. Who he came from.
My heart is broken, just the same.
I am convinced that the perfect little somebody will come along for our family.
Just don't feel real hopeful right now.

I think, from what I have seen that Maine can be pro bio family to a fault. I hope it works out for M and you. Good luck and hopefully you wont have to wait too long.

Soooo not happy about this. I'm sorry. Maybe your worker should be reading J's blog. She was placed with 3 different family members and they all gave up. More bouncing around and 28 families later, here we are.

I thought of J's blog as I spoke to the sw. Sometimes it is not the right thing for the child. Visitation could/should/would be enough. I think, anyway. the thing is, the bio fam doesn't know anything about autism or the great strides has made with his current one-on-one, OT and DT.
BUT..whatever is in HIS best interest. It may NOt be us. It may NOT be them....
Thanks for your thoughts. It helps!

I can't help but feeling as if we've just been played this whole time. sw lit your hopes and then dash them in a single week. it's any wonder any of these children get placed

That is tough. My boys were with various relatives at first, too. The system is broken.
